After the reported Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift split, a walk down memory lane
As you may have heard or read overnight, Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift have reportedly broken up, ending a relationship that lasted all of two months. Actually, relationship almost seems like the wrong word here. Their affair was more like a series of very public coffee and ice cream runs. (Instead of bursting out with, "I think we should see other people," did one of them just say, "Hey, I think we should stop consuming caffeine and sugar together?")
People magazine, among other outlets, reported the split, citing a source who claims the 21-year-old songstress and the 30-year-old "Prince of Persia" star called things off last month. Assuming things really are over, at least we can live with the solace that this pairing gave us so, so many memories. Let's recall them now, shall we?
Remember when various gossip blogs reported back in October that Swift and Gyllenhaal got cozy backstage at "Saturday Night Live" and you thought, "That has to be just a rumour."
Remember when they supposedly got all giggly while going on an ice cream date in Santa Barbara? And you thought, "Maybe they really are together." And then you couldn't watch "Donnie Darko" the same way again for at least three straight weeks?
Remember that afternoon when you spent 15 minutes internally debating whether the new "it" couple should be dubbed Swiftenhaal or Gyllenswift, then decided both names made you vaguely nauseous and abandoned the effort?
Remember over Thanksgiving weekend, when they went out for maple lattes and you thought, "You know, maybe those crazy kids will make this thing work ... or at least gain some serious weight."
Remember how you mentioned to your sister-in-law that Gyllenhaal was dating Swift after seeing a matinee of "Love & Other Drugs"? And she had absolutely no idea? The good news is she's probably already forgotten that you said that, so this break-up will have no emotional impact on her whatsoever.
