Charlie Sheen has checked into rehab and as a result, his hit sitcom, "Two and a Half Men," is going on hiatus.

CBS and Warner Bros. issued a joint press release this afternoon announcing plans to put the Sheen/Jon Cryer comedy on hold while Sheen addresses his addiction issues.

"We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision," the press release said.

USA Today reports that Stan Rosenfeld, Sheen's rep, confirmed that the actor checked in today to an undisclosed rehab center.

Well, that resolves the whole "mystery" of Sheen's hospitalization; guess he didn't laugh his way to severe abdominal pain after all. Here's hoping he gets help and gets himself back on track.

Charlie like many other over-rated celebrities play these dangerous games for one reason (publicity) since whether good or bad, it is publicity. Charlie is a mentally ill and not very talented individual who had been able to keep going by playing bit parts on a mindless TV show who's zombie followers seem to be all that's needed to make it credible.

Sadder still is what kind of a statement this makes for the quality of entertainment people in this country settle for. Reality shows? Give me a break. what's real about a scripted show? Wrestling? Give me a break. what's so interesting in watching a bunch of steroid bloated bozos throwing chairs at each other? The wasteland keeps growing and no one seems to notice. Sad indeed.

While Coco is learning how to rehabilitate himself, he will be sitting in a dark room thinking to himself- my servants have spoken and they have told me- they can only afford to love me as long as I behave myself and learn to play the assigned role of America’s poster boy with no more wild detours to Sodom and Gomarrah.

This is the script the public wants me to play even if I prefer the occasional bad boy role...
