Will Ferrell joins 'The Office'

Will Ferrell, reporting for Dunder Mifflin duty.(AP)
As reported by Entertainment Weekly and other outlets, Will Ferrell will join the cast of "The Office" for four episodes later this season, at least one of which will air after the show's resident clueless ring leader, Steve Carell, departs. (Michael Scott will say his farewell four episodes prior to the season finale.)
Ferrell will play a Dunder Mifflin branch manager who gets sent to Scranton. Presumably he and Carell will either clash because Ferrell's character will tell better jokes than Michael Scott, or totally bond over their inability to handle personnel. A few "That's what she saids" also seem like probable elements in the comedy mix.
Presumably Ferrell won't be taking over as the equivalent of the show's new Michael Scott since his character is only temporary. But presumably he'll help tee up "The Office 2.0" ... and hopefully get into a huge argument with Dwight over whether a tuna or a lion is more likely to win in a fight.

With the arrival of Will Ferrell, the name of the program will be changed to The Orifice.
Byoolin, remember those guys who responded to your Trebuchet for Sale posting on Craigslist? It appears that they have been using it for interesting illegal activities. See AP story below:
Pot-firing catapult found at Arizona-Mexico border
AP Jan 26, 2011
TUCSON, Ariz. – Drug smugglers trying to get marijuana across the Arizona-Mexico border apparently are trying a new approach — a catapult.
National Guard troops operating a remote video surveillance system at the Naco Border Patrol Station say they observed several people preparing a catapult and launching packages over the International Border fence last Friday evening.
Tucson TV station KVOA says Border Patrol agents working with the National Guard contacted Mexican authorities, who went to the location and disrupted the catapult operation.
The smugglers left the area before they could be captured, but Mexican officials seized about 45 pounds of marijuana, an SUV and the catapult device.
Naco is about 80 miles southeast of Tucson.

Is it just me or has Dwight been mopping the floor with Jim. Between the Employee of the month, bugging his office, and the snowman prank, Dwight really seems to have stepped up his game. Jim seems to be acting scared and it's getting old.

Has Ferrell had his eyelids surgically "done" already? Ick. Nast.

Sas, that drug story is just disgraceful. Why, there are plenty of able-bodied Americans who are ready, willing, and able to mule drugs across the border, but once again this Administration does nothing while jobs leave the country.
Now, if only we could get a catapult of our own, put Mr. Ferrell in the sling and hurl him southward...

The downhill slide continues. I guess they'll bring in Vince Vaughn after that for the final nail in the coffin.

I was hoping the rumors were true that "Murray" from Flight of the Conchords was going to take over for Michael Scott.

every show has an ending. sometimes the cast and producers know it and end it. and other times, the slog continues. this, i believe, is the latter situation for the office.
i did like ferrell in old school (vince vaughn!!) and the landlord video on get funny or die. does that ban me?
