The Spirit Awards: Live tweeting the event
The Independent Spirit Awards -- the indie-film, intentionally casual warm-up to the Academy Awards -- take place today on the beach in Santa Monica. There is plenty of overlap between many of the Spirt-nominated films ("Black Swan," "The Kids Are All Right," "Winter's Bone," "127 Hours") and those nominated for Oscars. But recognition also has been given to indie films without any Academy hype, like "Tiny Furniture," "Night Catches Us" and "Daddy Longlegs."
I'll be live-tweeting the proceedings from both the red carpet (where hopefully I won't ask questions like the ones mentioned in the video above) and the ceremony itself. Follow along with me starting around 11 a.m. PST/2 p.m. EST, either on Twitter or right here in the blog.
