Jacko Overload?
I'm Liz and I'm a Jacko-holic. I'm as wary as the next celebrity news blogger about over-covering the Michael Jackson story, but the crowning of Jacko as the King of Celebrity Deaths (his funeral is expected to dwarf Princess Diana's) and wall-to-wall coverage has slowed our usual diet of celeb news to a trickle. The week after a triumvirate of celeb deaths (let's not forget we lost Farrah and Ed last week, too) even pix of Sarah Jessica Parker's new twins and the latest Jon and Kate update seem ho-hum. So I'll admit it. The crush of Jackson details (I'm somewhat of a bizarro news aficionado, which will come as no surprise to long-time Celebritology readers who shudder at the memory of the now-retired "Britney Watch" and my abiding taste for stuff like this and this) has distracted me to the point of uselessness for all non-Jacko-related stories. I've had...

Getting Game at the Correspondents' Dinner
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore -- sadly, not my newest Twitter pals. (AP) It was great idea that never got off the ground. Saturday night, Jen Chaney and I schlepped down to the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner to rub shoulders with celebs and find out what it would be like to be in a mosh pit with Newt Gingrich, Al Sharpton, John McLaughlin and the rest of the non-glam types that turned up to gawk at said celebs. Hoping to childishly entertain ourselves at what can be a gruelingly (and droolingly) long event, we decided to make things more interesting by crafting lists -- which we traded -- of semi-humiliating tasks for each other to accomplish involving specific celebrities. Unfortunately we were sidetracked by, ummm, doing our actual jobs and the lists were summarily forgotten until the end of the night. I reprint them here today in an...

Hollywood Intervention: Nipping the Next Lilo in the Bud
Actress Bella Thorne, age 12, at Wednesday's 'Race to Witch Mountain' premiere in Hollywood. (AP) Dear Whoever This Child's Mom May Be: Look out! Your daughter, one Bella Thorne, is in mortal danger of becoming the next Lindsay Lohan. While I understand visions of reality shows and Mother of the Year Awards are dancing through your head, that's not actually a good thing. Take a look back at Bella's short -- yet crowded career trajectory: Modeling at 20 weeks, Christian Slater's canceled show and an upcoming role opposite Crispin Glover and Judd Nelson in a second-rate horror flick? And when does she have time for school? This is not good. Act now or your still somewhat innocent spawn (although she's clearly got her red carpet schtick down cold) could end up hawking leggings and self-tanning lotion before a decade is out. Is that really what you want? I'm not...

Celebrity Wedding Style: Get Your Own on the Cheap
Know a PhotoShop expert? Recruit her to give your wedding the tabloid treatment, like Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman. (Getty Images) Earlier this week, we talked about taking a cue from celebs when it comes to invitation inspiration. But why stop there when you can model your whole wedding after the glitterati? Below, tips and resources for starring in your own paparazzi-worthy wedding day production -- without breaking the bank. Location Location Location: Take a spin through InStyle magazine's archive of celebrity wedding stories. From destinations (Ana Ortiz chose Puerto Rico) to casual backyard bashes (Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell treated guests to barbecue at their Los Angeles home) to themes (Lisa Ling chose an Asian-flavored day), ideas abound. Just make sure to settle on a plan appropriate to your budget. Dress: With celebrity brides choosing a diverse range of styles and designers, Vera Wang's days as wedding dress...

2008: The Year in Celebrity
Tomorrow I'll share with you my biggest surprise in the world of celebrity from 2008 -- and ask for yours, but in the meantime I wanted to get our listy juice flowing by sharing a few lists compiled by others. Agree? Disagree? Add your input to the comment section. Entertainer of the Year Tina Fey. (Paramount Pictures) Entertainer of the Year: Tina Fey (AP) Anyone who wants to question Fey's pick as the most talented human being on TV (and sometimes off) can talk to me. And if I can't change your mind, well, suck it monkeys. It should be noted that Fey edged out the almost equally entertaining Robert Downey Jr. for the title. Person of the Year: Jennifer Aniston (Popeater) I. Just. Don't. Get. It. Top Entertainment Stories of the Year (AP) Nothing to snark about here. Heath Ledger's untimely death last January set a somber tone for...

Hey Elijah Wood: Stop Creeping Me Out
Elijah Wood at the 8th Annual 24 Hour Plays on Broadway in New York on Monday. (Getty Images) Dear Elijah Wood, I was going to write something glitteringly brilliant today that would have probably been the object of much e-mail forwarding and linking across the blogosphere, but I was derailed by the above picture of you. So, thanks for that. Even as I write these words, I've got your creepy mug leering at me from my computer screen and your eyes -- normally so limpid and comforting in a cozy Hobbit kind of way -- are doing that weird Mona Lisa follow me around thing. It's creeping me out, man. And I like you. If it weren't for the googly eyes I'd mention some of your current projects, like your voice work as Spyro the dragon in the videogame, "The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon," for which...
