'The Green Hornet': Was the bad buzz misleading?

The project was in development for many years, and got passed from writer to writer and actor to actor until it finally got made. The release date for the Seth Rogen movie was moved six times, with the last switch taking it from a confidence-building December time slot to a "wow, this must belong in the trash heap" January date. And, perhaps most distressing of all, at Comic-Con last summer, hundreds of geek-movie fans -- essentially the flick's prime demographic -- walked out in the middle of a "Hornet" panel after watching some initial footage. Walked. Out. While Rogen was still talking. So it's no surprise that the advance buzz on this one was wretched. But...

A Q&A with Jeff Bridges: Talking 'Tron' and more
Jeff Bridges at Comic-Con 2010. (AP) Jeff Bridges currently inhabits two distinctly different cinematic worlds. One is the futuristic, computer-generated matrix of "Tron: Legacy," which arrives in theaters at midnight tonight, much to the delight of Grid geeks, Daft Punk fans and anyone who enjoys the comforting glow of neon light. The second involves the old-fashioned Western landscapes of the Coen brothers' "True Grit," which opens Dec. 22 and features Bridges in the role of grizzled U.S. Marshall Rooster Cogburn. Back in July, during my whirlwind journey through Comic-Con, I got a few moments to chat with Bridges about a variety of things, including life after his Oscar win, reprising his "Tron" role as Kevin Flynn and his love-hate relationship with technology. Comic-Con passes: They're almost for sale
Darth and a buddy at Comic-Con 2010. (Reuters) Geeks who got excited today to buy their passes to Comic-Con 2011 will have to exercise some patience. Registration for the annual pop culture extravaganza was scheduled to kick off today at noon Eastern time. But technical issues have forced registration to be postponed by a week. A message on the Comic-Con Web site reads: "We are really sorry for the problems with registration today. We do not know what the technical issues are, so we have temporarily closed registration. We will announce on Monday November 8th the new date and time that registration will reopen. This down time will allow us to determine and address the issues. Only a handful of badges were actually sold today. Thank you for your patience, and again, we all are truly sorry for this inconvenience." So if you panicked because the site appeared to...

A Q&A with Kodi Smit-McPhee, star of 'Let Me In'

(Getty Images) In his first role in a major American motion picture, Kodi Smit-McPhee took on a major challenge: playing the son of a barely surviving Viggo Mortensen in the adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's "The Road." Now, with his second starring role in a big Hollywood release, he's tackling an adaptation of a different sort: "Let Me In," the remake of the acclaimed Swedish vampire film "Let the Right One In," also based on a book. In it, Smit-McPhee, 14, plays Owen, a young, alienated boy who -- as in the original -- falls hard for a girl (Chloe Moretz) who happens to have a serious thirst for human blood. A look at the 'Walking Dead' preview
The trailer for AMC's "Walking Dead" -- essentially the same one that sent Comic-Con attendees into rapturous zombie glee in San Diego last month -- is now online, courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed blog (and with some NSFW language). I'll let the post-apocalyptic awesomeness speak for itself. But before I do, know that the series debuts Oct. 31. Which means you may want to cancel your Halloween plans, or at least set the DVR....

Comic-Con 2010: Seeing stars, from Willliam Shatner to Michael Cera, on the party scene

And by attempting to recuperate, I mean regain my energy and finish posting all the blog items I had hoped to publish during the nonstop, four-day swirl of pop-culture activity. In addition to the sightings of costumed Darth Vaders and Hit Girls, I also managed to sneak in some celeb-spotting over the weekend during a few of the roughly 873 Comic-Con-related parties that were happening in the San Diego area. On the heels of Thursday's G4/Lucasfilm Stormtrooper throw-down, I spent my Friday night hopping from party to party to party. First stop: The Tweet House event on the USS Midway, where views of the San Diego skyline from the upper deck were beautiful and Web-savvy industry types, as well as a few...
