Nail polish fit for a princess ... or at least named after Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton, spawning her nail polish. (Butter London via The Non-Blonde blog) The wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William is three months away. That means time is running out for companies that are seeking to develop products inspired by (and destined to make a buck off of) the royal couple. Butter London is totally on top of things, though. As People reports, the cosmetics company is launching a new nail lacquer that borrows Middleton's nickname from her pre-engagement days. Its title: No More Waity, Katie. (The British have given the world great pop music and fine actors, but Waity Katie was the best they could do for a nickname? Rubbish.) The glittery polish will be available internationally starting next month. It seems highly unlikely that Middleton would ever wear it, given the ridiculous, self-referential name (although the color is pretty). But we are sort of tempted to splash...

Official Prince William/Kate Middleton royal wedding tchotchkes go on sale

(Reuters) In need of a pillbox that handily reminds you of the April 29 wedding date of Britain's Prince William and his soon-to-be-wife Kate Middleton? It's your lucky day. Monday, the first official memorabilia went on sale at royal palaces across the U.K. and at the royal family's official online shop. Each piece bears the couple's entwined initials in gold and silver surmounted by the coronet of Prince William and the wedding date. The range is decorated with a pattern of doves, white ribbons and hearts in silver, gold and grey, set against a pale-grey striped background. Handmade exclusively for the Royal Collection in Stoke-on-Trent using methods that have remained unchanged for 250 years, each item is individually decorated and then embellished with several layers of burnished gold and platinum before a final layer of gilding in 22-carat gold is applied by hand. The commemorative plate is going for...

Kate Middleton engagement portrait looks: More must-haves?

The cream-colored clothes the princess-to-be sported in the couple's newly released official engagement photos will be coming soon to a store near you. Well, at least if you live in London. According to the U.K.'s Telegraph, Middleton insisted on dressing herself for the shoot "despite several assistants being on hand with a selection of designer clothes to style her." Not only is she pretty, but she can dress herself! For the casual shot, Middleton chose a no-longer-available cream silk blouse from the 2008 Whistles collection. But, said Jane Shepherdson, chief executive of Whistles, to the Telegraph -- Whistles will re-release the item. "We are delighted that Katherine has chosen to wear Whistles in her engagement photographs. Due to a surge of customer interest...

Prince William and Kate Middleton release official engagement photos

(Mario Testino/Clarence House Press Office via Getty Images) Over the weekend, Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton (as the Clarence House Press Office directed she be identified) released a handful of "official engagement portraits." The pix were shot by fashion photographer Mario Testino, who photographed the prince's mother -- Princess Diana -- many times and is a go-to guy for high-fashion shoots and celebrity cover shots. "I am very happy to have been asked to cover this historic moment that the whole world was waiting for," said Testino. "They are in their prime and brimming with happiness. I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together." Okay, well, that's sad. But maybe the guy is sick and tired of shooting fashion mag covers? Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway are perhaps like interchangeable mannequins to him at this point and he's longing for...

Prince William engagement: Which other royals married at Westminster Abbey?

Then Princess Elizabeth and Philip of Greece marry at Westminster in 1947. (AP) On Tuesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their intention to marry at Britain's Westminster Abbey on April 29. The couple shared news of their engagement just last week, with William giving Kate his mother's sapphire engagement ring. Of course, this won't be Westminster's first royal wedding. Princess (now Queen) Elizabeth herself married Prince Philip of Greece at the church on Nov. 20, 1947. And Elizabeth's parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (then the Duke and Duchess of York) married at Westminster in 1923. Prince Andrew -- Elizabeth's second son -- married Sarah Ferguson there in 1986 (though the couple divorced a decade later). Andrew's sister, Princess Anne, also walked the Westminster aisle in 1973 only to divorce in 1992. King Henry I seems to have been the first royal to hold his nuptials at...

Kate Middleton's engagement announcement dress sells out

Kate, with Prince William, in her Issa London frock. (AP) Well, this is a nice change for conspicuous blue dresses. The royal (ahem) blue dress Kate Middleton wore when she and Britain's Prince William made their engagement public on Tuesday sold out within 24 hours, according to British Vogue. Brazilian-born designer Daniella Issa Helayel, whose dress retails for about $617 depending on the current exchange rate at London's Harvey Nichols, is apparently one of the princess-to-be's favorite designers. "Since the announcement of the royal engagement we have been inundated with requests regarding Issa," Harvey Nichols' buying director Averyl Oates told British Vogue. "The dress worn by Kate sold out almost immediately. Issa is one of our best selling brands and the versatility of the pieces mean that they can be dressed down for the day and dressed up for special occasions." A similar, yet multicolored, version is available stateside...
