Republican Iowa Debate

Peter Hauck

At Sunday's Republican candidates debate in Des Moines, Iowa, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani are asked about Senator Obama's recent statements about taking military action in Pakistan against al-Qaeda.

Romney says "Barack Obama is confused as to who are our friends and who are our enemies." More Romney clips from the Iowa debate here.

"Pakistan has, unfortunately, not been making the effort that they should be making," says Giuliani, but ". . . we should seek their permission if we ever had to take action there." More Giuliani clips from the Iowa debate here.

And in response to another foreign policy question, Ron Paul says "We can achieve much more in peace than we can ever achieve in these needless, unconstitutional, undeclared wars."

Republicans have not made smart decisions about foreign policy in their previous hold of congress. I have qualms of trusting their words now. Estimated by the Borgen Project, 78% of Americans agree that fighting terrorism can by fought through fighting poverty. Maybe it is best that Republicans address this issue of Global Poverty that also concerns the issue of terrorism.

Ron Paul won the debate according to ABC's own poll and Drudge Report's poll.

Ron Paul places 1st or 2nd in every straw poll, debate, and active participation survey. Including this ABC debate!

Ron Paul is 1st on YouTube, Meetup, MySpace, Technorati, Alexa, Clickz, Google, etc. The old media is just too slow to realize what is happening.

Dr. Ron Paul has the most contributions from U.S. military personnel and veterans above all other candidates. So support the troops and vote Ron Paul!

A big problem with our electoral processes is that the media generally supports the candidates with the most money. Those are the worst candidates because they are owned by special interest and lobbyists.

Ron Paul is the only major candidate not owned by military-industrial-complex, corporations, special interest, lobbyists, etc. Fix the system and vote Ron Paul. And tell everyone you know. Now is the time to set ourselves free.

Dr. Ron Paul is the man of integrity and courage that America needs at this time.

Gov. Mike Huckabee should be our next President because he is the first candidate to endorse the Fair Tax (Fair Tax.com) This would be a major step in the right direction. No IRS, no Federal Income tax, No State Income tax, No Death Tax, No dividend tax. It must happen...read it... study it. Huckabee can beat Hillary..he can put her on the trailer back to New York.

I have a big problem with Dr. Paul's position on convicted income tax evaders and religious nutcases Ed and Elaine Brown who refuse to surrender to Federal Marshalls. Dr. Paul has communicated with them, stating his support, but then denied later in an interview that he approves of their actions. Exactly where Dr. Paul on the issues I can't tell.

Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul are the only two good Republican candidates. I could probably pinch my nose and vote for Mitt Romney as well.

The Northeast's media obsession with Giuliani must stop. If he were merely mayor of Chicago he wouldn't stand a chance. He has as much chance of holding a high-level government office as Bernie Kerik.

Now i can understand why the terms NAIVETY and IN-EXPERIENCE are being thrown to Obama, but my simple questions are these:- 1.Do all Americans know why the President should or shoudn't talk to rogue leaders of other countries?,why their brothers and sisters die in battle fields in the name of terrorism?,why the target is only America and Americans alone?. 2.Have they demanded the reasons why these two parties should or shouldn't talk?.

In a democracy, the people should pick candidates and elected officials. It is a shame that the outcome is being manipulated by the media and the Republican Party who will not give Ron Paul anywhere close to the amount of exposure Giuliani and Romney get. It is as if the candidate must pass the test of the party ideology instead of the candidate setting his or her own course.

These candidates have brushed up on their rhetoric to appear distanced from Bush. The Republican candidates will protect their most wealthy contributors, such as the money flowing from the Cheney and Rumsfeld oil imperialism. The Bush Neoconservative liberal's pretending to be conservative will get into office again by promising to take away private human rights rather than improving public policy.

The Neocon's have infiltrated churches, through James Dobson, the 700 Club, and Jerry Falwell. I attended several churches of differing denominations that preach to vote republican solely for the word prolife, and the only words allowed from the audience is "Amen," "Halleluiah," and "That's right brother." Anyone who says anything else is escorted out the door and asked not to come back. This is brainwashing by military standards.

I hope the working class churchgoers will return their eyes, ears, and feet to earth. Your children are more clearheaded than you are. Ask your child, "If you had to choose between having me as your mom or having another sibling and no mom, which would you choose?" A woman can have more children but kids only have one mom and she has to be allowed to protect herself.

If you want to be prolife, stop killing a million people of a differing faith outside our territory and Take Responsibility for Life by adopting the 100 million orphaned children no matter their color. Ask those claiming to be prolife how many embryos of another bloodline they have adopted into their wombs?

Using women's body's to convince the US people to vote neoconservative so that the neocons can use our US military for the wealthies' personal oil pocketbook is not what our government was intended for and is a flaw of capitalistic democracy.

Reject rhetorical one-liners written by the neoconservatives. You know the ones you hear Bush say every day on the news and the ones the current candidates use to answer questions about being prolife.

If you listened to the debate you heard that all the canidates support a flat tax system, it would be the ideal system, but it can't happen over night. The it seems only 2-3 of the canidates understood that. Giuliani and Romney were the only two that recognized that fact, and both stated that a flat tax system would be more of an ideal system.

Can we afford not to have someone like Ron Paul be our next president. America has been assulted not by terrorist but by the people we have put in office. It's time to re think how we want to stand as a country.

Why is the Republican Party and the main stream media blocking or boycotting Ron Paul. I am a life long Republican. Have often donated time and money. I am also an Iraqi War veteran and disabled veteran. Is this America or a conspiracy state. He is the only candidate. The rest are all the same. I can't tell the difference between Democrats and Republicans any more. I beg you please help Ron Paul save our great Republic. To me my friends and family he is our only and best hope. For our children for our future, we must have a tomorrow . The country cannot go on as is. I beseech you to more robustly cover this great American. Restorer of the Republic and possibly the last defender of the Constitution.
Sincerely,
RFD
