McCain Produces 'A Tale of Two Mitts'

Just in time for the Florida primary, John McCain is out with a new Web ad casting light on Mitt Romney's change of positions through the years.

The 60-second ad is an opposition researcher's dream come true: It combines statements made by Romney during his Senate and gubernatorial campaigns, with more recent comments during his presidential run. The message is set to the theme music from "Masterpiece Theatre."

McCain's campaign also produced "Mittsurfing" a few days ago. The brilliance of this ad is endless: It uses the visual windsurfing metaphor used against John Kerry by the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004. It also uses the same theme music. Any astute political observer will pick up on these connections almost immediately, thus tying the former Massachusetts governor to Kerry's failed campaign:

McCain echoed his web ads' comments to washingtonpost.com on Monday, when he said Romney has "two positions on every issue":

Well, well, what do we see ? All important liemericans together. Anything to explain about building 7 ladies and gentlemen ? Anything to say about using 9 barrels and finding only 1 new barrel ? Keepin up the good news then, cheerio. I whish PRESIDENT OBAMA a lot of wisdom.
