Rain Dance

Peter Hauck

Some guy from Focus Action, the political arm of Focus on the Family (James C. Dobson's organization) does Old Testament shtick, asking folks to "pray for rain" during Barack Obama's acceptance speech on August 28 at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Why? Because "I'm still pro-life" and "I'm still in favor of marriage being only between one man and one woman."

Sound Bite: "We're not asking for hail the size of canned hams or lighting bolts to set the bunting on fire. Just rain. Beautiful rain. Network cameras can't see the podium rain. . . "

The group pulled the video from its site after complaints from its own members, according to The Rocky Mountain News. More here.

The current video featured on the Focus Action site seeks to disprove the existence of a "gay gene." Unfortunately, no humor in this one. Too bad. Think of the possibilities.

It would be really cool for all the audience to show up with umbrellas, even if there is no forcasted rain for the next two months. The message is that we're backing Barack, come rain or shine.

I love good christian values. They are such nice people.... Who likes gays, minorities, progressives, young people, the mentally challenged, or the educated anyways?

As a keen watcher of the American election, I am continually astounded by the "red-neck" comments concerning Obama. My country, Australia, certainly has its own problems regarding similar people. However, it is a scary, scary world in which we live where a country with such global power as yours is run by the likes of ignoramus types such as George W. Bush and the hope for a better President rests on the votes of a large number of narrow-minded bigots or racists.
GO THE DEMOCRATS!! Obama, you'd have my and many more Australian's vote if we could!

Yes rain cleans and has power to restore things that have been dried for a while. Let rain speak for the Nature.

If churches were taxed like a business, we could clear the national debt. They are noting more than businesses after all, run by narrow minded bigots.
