Jewish Democrats Asked to 'Schlep' Home for Obama

The Great Schlep from The Great Schlep on Vimeo.

By Ed O'Keefe in The Trail:

"If Barack Obama doesn't become the next President of the United States I'm going to blame the Jews."

So says Jewish -- and infamously potty-mouthed -- comedienne Sarah Silverman in an edgy new video at TheGreatSchlep.com, a Web site designed to encourage young Jewish voters to "schlep it" to Florida -- a state with a substantial Jewish population -- and other battleground states to convince their older Jewish relatives to vote for Obama.

In the video, Silverman suggests that if relatives are concerned about Obama's background, "Explain to them that we're all the same inside." Tongue planted firmly in cheek, Silverman ticks off what she says are some similarities between African Americans and older, Florida Jews: They "can't get enough" of track suits, both enjoy driving Cadillacs and "like things and bling and jewelry and stuff."

"Barack is a Hebrew word. It means lightning," Silverman deadpans. "I'd much rather have a president who's name means lightning than a president named John who's name means toilet."

All joking aside, the Web site is an off-shoot of JewsVote.org, the Web home of the Jewish Council for Education and Research (JCER), a political action committee supporting Obama. GreatSchlep has also established a Facebook.com group that provides instructions on what to do and say when members "schlep" home to campaign for Obama on or around Columbus Day. It is also considering radio and television advertisements, Moore says.

"Our goal is to get as many people as possible to travel down to Florida to do what they can to talk to Jewish voters who remain undecided. We think there is a significant number of them," says Mik Moore, co-executive director of JCER.

Silverman is so lucky that Palin's not currently the President.

If so, terrorists around the world would be running for their lives right now, and after an intense, initial global, no-holds barred battle, which quite naturally would cost tens of thousands of lives, peace would be at hand in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Silverman would have to go back to the task at hand, her real job.

Oh, and yes, Israel would be safe again)))

Sarah, beware of the new Sarah!

Scary Intro snap-footage for Silverman...wouldn't you agree?

Most disturbing here is that the article's author cannot spell!
Sarah didn't say "John who's name means toilet." She said "John whose name means toilet." As is 'belonging to' instead of 'who is.' Duh!
And all the fancy shmancy editors at the Washington Post missed that?!?!?!
SHAME

Joe,

In order to contain costs most of the Post's editorial work is performed in the suburbs of Mumbai. It is not politically correct to discuss grammatical correctness in such a situation.

Some politicians, such as Barack Obama, are looking to outlaw the payday loan industry. A large part of this intention was stirred by the flawed idea that payday lenders fall under the same moral values as illegal loan sharks. Being misinformed can accumulate some severe consequences. Although this statement is true, they take no notice of the genuine fact that the main source of these consequences is based on a course of action on inaccurate information. Sadly, a number of politicians have successfully passed legislation in their states, city and towns which controls, or even takes away your ability to get a payday loan. Now is the time to take action and educate your friend and family to protect your rights to financial independence.

Hey folks, short term community organizer...or uh, senator for 153 days from a corrupt political background, doesn't believe in the right to keep and bear arms..or did he change his mind on that too?...says he is religious but hasn't decided on which one, very charismatic and appeals to liberals, uses global warming to push HIS agenda, hates oil companies or any one who becomes wealthy (except himself), hates capitalism and believes if you are a successful person with money you need to take care of others who sit on their butts all day and cry "Where is the government, I need some cheese", has changed his opinion on every position he has ever had as long as it benefits his agenda, appeals to some, talks a good game, feels that he is "Elite" and above others, remind you of anyone? Haven't we learned from having a Democratic Congress?

A.) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would be President
B.) If you liked Jimmy Carter, you'd LOVE OBAMA.
