MoveOn Calls Out McCain's 'Friends'

By Ed O'Keefe in The Trail:

Listen to most John McCain speeches and he's bound to say the phrase "my friends" close to a dozen times. A new 30-second message by the liberal group MoveOn.org seizes on the phrase to target some of the candidate's closest associates.

The ad flashes the names and photos of several McCain campaign staffers, advisers and donors: campaign adviser Charlie Black, the campaign's national finance co-chairman Wayne Berman, major campaign donor Jack Oliver, foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann and RNC deputy chairman Frank Donatelli. A MoveOn release notes that until recently Black led BKSH & Associates, which lobbied for Occidental Petroleum and a subsidiary; Berman works for Ogilvy Government Relations, which has lobbied for the American Petroleum Institute; Oliver was a registered lobbyist for Shell Oil; Scheunemann's firm, Mercury Group, has lobbied for British Petroleum; and Donatelli lobbied for Exxon Corporation.

"McCain got more than $2 million from Big Oil," the ad's announcer says. "And he didn't support the measures we need to get cleaner, cheaper fuel. So when it comes to gas prices, John McCain won't be taking care of you, he'll be taking care of ... my friends ... my friends ... my friends."

"Barack Obama has 'friends' of his own, including unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers who helped launch his political career [and] convicted felon Tony Rezko who helped purchase his home," blasted RNC spokesman Alex Conant in response, also noting that Obama's chief campaign strategist David Axelrod once had the largest lobbying contract in New York state. "As Obama's star starts to fade, his special-interest friends are responding to his campaign's pleas for help."

MoveOn.org has endorsed Obama for president. The group will spend $200,000 to air "My Friends" national cable networks and on broadcast stations in Nevada, and it will likely air in other battleground states, according to a group source.

This item initially reported the ad would air in Wisconsin, rather than Nevada, and has been corrected.

Did JF Kennedy give his famous speech in vain? It was his dream.
All of Barack Obama's above mentioned information has been explained in great detail. Where is McCains explaination to these?
Recently an t.v. add has been released stating that McCain and Palin are the true mavericks. But, the add continues to state that they have helped to change the corruption in Washington and Alaska. This is almost amusing in a pathetic way, do they not know that we know McCain is riding on the skirt tale of the Obama voice one day late!

(White background. Childlike piano music plays).

(A picture of Barack Obama appears against the background)

VO (Similar to voice of "Mac" character): Barack Obama is like a Mac.

(A picture of John McCain appears against the background)

VO (Similar to voice of "PC" character): John McCain is like a PC.

(Picture of a bank against the background)

VO: McCain likes the old economics, corporate welfare, and tax breaks for the wealthy of George W. Bush. He says "the economy is fundamentally strong."

(Quick cuts: Picture of Countrywide Branch, Picture of Bear Stearns, Picture of IndyMac, Picture of Lehman Brothers against background)

(Picture of Obama)

VO: Obama doesn't like old systems that crash.

(Picture of a mother, father, son and daughter against the background)

VO: Obama thinks that when it comes to health care, every American should have the access and support they need.

(Picture of family fades to blank background)

VO: McCain is against these health benefits for children, families and the elderly. He believes that when it comes to access and support for health, it's an "ownership society"--you're on your own.

(Picture of a woman standing against background)

VO: For women, McCain talks a good game, but he is against a woman's right to choose, would repeal Roe v. Wade, and even voted against equal pay for women.

(Picture expands to show many women standing behind her)

VO: Barack Obama believes that every woman should be paid the same for the same work as every man, and that every woman has the right to make her own choices.

(Picture of George W. Bush)

VO: Barack Obama has called for an end to the distortions, mismanagement, and failed policies of the Bush Administration that have left so many families in distress.

(Famed picture of McCain hugging George W. Bush)

VO: McCain has agreed with George W. Bush 90% of the time.

(Picture of McCain)

John McCain. Do you really want to spend another four years with the same old system?

There is truly something missing in the comments about McCain. McCain always sez he put country first. This is blatantly untrue and as recent as June John was lobbying vigorously to give an air tanker contract to Northrop Grumman and its partner EADS (this is the company that makes th Airbus.) This contract would take away 49000 jobs from Boeing the builder of many of our very large aircraft such as the B52. McCain had in his campaign entourage lobbyists from Eads during the first weeks of his campaign. Fortunately, GAO intervened and put the contract on hold and it is still on hold. This proposal to giveaway millions if not billions to the French certainly belies his claim to put "county first." I becsme alarmed when I first learned about this giveaway to a foreign country which would also include classified components being passed along to the French who have not been our friends for many years. My memory tells me the French are not even members of NATO.

McSellout’s financial advisor Phil Grahamm is one of the DC legislators who played a central role in creating our current financial crisis. Grahamm is quite rich now, and calling YOU a whiner.
