'Office': Of Beets and Bankruptcy

So, we finally see Jim and Pam in bed together on Thursday's "The Office."

O.K., not your traditional "bedroom" scene. After all, they were staying in the "irrigation room" at Dwight's ultra-creepy Bed & Breakfast, which caters to the "agro-tourism" crowd. Also, Dwight was in the room with them reading "Harry Potter." Oh, and his weird cousin Mose was camped on the bed with them too.

But it does go down in the books as a bedroom scene. (And as a former skeptic, I'm starting to buy into the cuteness of Pam and Jim, but I'm still betting on a November sweeps break-up).

The scenes from the B&B were great -- I kinda wish we could have stayed there all night. Gotta love Mose and all his weirdness, right down to being caught in the outhouse by Pam. "Oh my God, what century is this?" she remarks.

This is the last of the hour-long "Office" episodes, for a while at least. And I say, thank goodness. "The Office" is such a half-hour show. But there were some delicious nuggets in the episode -- although all these romances are making "The Office" resemble a certain hospital drama airing on a rival network that airs at the same time.

You've got the train wreck of a relationship between a bankrupt Michael and an alcoholic Jan.

Andy has finally won over Angela (I give it two weeks) thanks to a stray cat that he nabbed for her.

But the absolute best romance plot line involves warehouse worker Darryl and Kelly, who may or may not be dating Darryl to get back at ex-boyfriend Ryan (who's back in Scranton this week and is still a jerk with his expensive suit and Red Bull).

Darryl, clearly exasperated by Kelly, has the line of the night when he tells his new lady: "You need to access your un-crazy side."

Am I crazy, or is the cat Andy rounded up for Angela behind DM the same feral farm cat she earlier rejected after Dwight attempted to replace the one he euthanized?

I thought the same thing about the cat! Let's hope it comes up in a later episode...

It's definitely the same cat ("Garbage") because Andy said he found it wandering near the Vance Refrigeration office, and that's where Dwight had stuffed Garbage (opening the Vance glass door entrance and shoving him inside) after Angela had rejected his apology gift. That made Dwight's reaction when she accepted it from Andy all the more sweeter.

how about kelly's line about darryl, "who says exactly what they're thinking? what kind of game is that?" or words to that effect. i loved their scenes last night. and i like jim and pam together for as long as it lasts.

Sorry to see the hour format go away. I liked the rythym of one hour -- really able to flesh out characters, etc. What does John Maynard have against Ryan? Is he anti-Esablishment? Ryan is trying to do his job -- and he's doing a damn good job. Loved the inn and love the Darryl and Kelly vibe.
