'Top Model': Getting Lucky

Oh, lordy, guess who's reduced the entire "America's Next Top Model" house into a giggling hot mess.

Tyson "The Body" Beckford! (Jenah brilliantly welcomes him into the house with, "Girls, we have company. I would really, seriously hurry up.") He pays the nine remaining girls a visit to prep them for public service. No, no, not humanitarian work. Not yet. He's there to make proper spokeswomen of the skinny little Eliza Doolittles.

So long, Ebony (Michael Yarish/The CW)

What follows is a few minutes of models selling Tyson on the admirable properties of fruit, including that it's "hot" and "moist."

But let's get to the real heat: the judging room.

The bottom two are a gimme. Ebony, in addition to being not very interesting or good in front of the camera, mentions more than once that she really wants to go. Ambreal, rather than working on her looks, spends her time fretting and continuing to insist that oh, no, she has the makings of America's Next Top, despite nearly being booted at the last elimination.

In the end, Tyra's holding Ebony's pic. But NO! Ebony waits for all of a second before announcing that she doesn't actually want to stay. Modeling, it seems, isn't for her.

But this is "America's Next Top Model," Ebony! Miss Tyra will decide when and where you get off. And oh, snap, does she. It isn't "modeling" that is Ebony's problem, Tyra insists. It's Ebony's distaste for authority, her inability to handle criticism. Ebony, Tyra says, is a quitter. And with that, she waves her away.

Left standing there is a bewildered-looking Ambreal.

Now, on many reality shows, a situation like this generally means that both are out, and all the other girls would have to work hard to muffle their delight.

In this case, Tyra tells Ambreal that she just won a "free pass" and gets to stay. Naturally, Ambreal is shaken. But will the very close call give her the stuff to turn it around next week and get herself out of the bottom?

Lessons this episode: Green. We don't know what it means, but perhaps if we all had to dress up like oil or newspaper, we would. And importantly, we learned that even for beautiful models, sometimes it's luck -- and not the arch of your eyebrow or hotness of your body -- that will get you to the next level.
