'Jericho': Oh, It's On (Again)
The headline from last night's "Jericho": Hawkins gets closer and Getz gets meaner.
We begin with foreshadowing (oooh, classy literary device) as Stanley points his rifle at what he assumes is bad guys trespassing on his property. It turns out to be little Dale 'n' friends, trying to smuggle necessities back to Jericho. We'll see more rifle-waggling at show's end, at the same location, with a more tragic result.
Poor Dale does NOT have a good episode. He gets manhandled by Getz and his Ravenwood boys. The 16-year-old nearly winds up in jail, but eventually is saved by Jake and the good ol' boys of Jericho.
Hawkins is keeping contact with his mystery man. Said mystery man (a.k.a. John Smith) turns out to be a big help in getting Our Hero closer to exposing the bad guys.

Stanley has the line of the night as he addresses a hostile crowd of Jerochians about how to handle the seemingly evil Jennings & Rall crowd. "This is not 'Red Dawn!' " But that angry crowd is right: J&R is one mean organization, which we now know for sure was behind the nuclear Armageddon that started this whole mess.
Jake, with those squinty puppy-dog eyes, persuades onetime love interest Heather to do some snooping in Beck's office. That snooping will help Hawkins track crucial codes to buy him time in his mission to expose the conspiracy.
Mission accomplished, but it wasn't easy. Thankfully, Beck continues to be a big softie -- and seemingly sweet on Heather. The Beckster has no problem letting Heather snoop around his office and, later, agrees with Jake that Dale was wrongly charged with embezzlement.
Man, what a pushover -- this "Jericho" viewer is not quite buying how easily Beck is rolling over.
But all is forgiven after that intense ending, which stirs memories of last season's best, unpredictable moments. Poor Bonnie is history and Mimi looks pretty banged up.
This we know for sure: It's war (again) between Jericho townies and the Ravenwood meanies.

I didn't start watching Jericho until these new episodes so I'm coming in late in the game. Is this whole thing just a (no so) thinly veiled warning against the dangers of Halliburton/Dick Cheyney/Patriot Act, etc?
I can't see how this is going to wrap up in three more episodes. (Or, I should say, I don't see how things are going to wrap up WELL in three more episodes. Hope they haven't strung things out only to just have the final bomb go off or something.)
Agree that Hawkins (and evil bald guy) are the only ones that pull off the "intense" thing really well.

Just when we thought maybe Bonnie was going to get a life - it gets snuffed! At least she took out several J&R thugs with her. I suppose that now Stanley and Mimi will truly be the perfect couple, since neither one will have a single solitary person to sit in the "family" section at their wedding. I think Stanley's next project must surely be to give city-girl Mimi some target practice - and take her hunting.
