Latest from Chancellor Rhee
I say this often, but in teaching repetition is a virtue, and this applies to blogging also: Checking Bill Turque's latest post is always in your best interest. The Post's D.C. schools reporter has the latest from Chancellor Michelle Rhee, an expansion of previous comment on the teacher layoffs. Just go to our education page. Look for this link: RHEE: Good DC teachers laid off too.

Jay after reading your article about the challenges at Dunbar Sr. High it all sounds like a daunting task, but as you saids you will basically do whatever you can from an editorial standpoint to assist Ms. Rhee. You speak of the New york group that is attempting to pull Dunbars test scores up with some degree of success, but what you need to do is dig a little deeper and talk to some of the teachers who were sumarily dismissed, my wife being one and perhaps get a different perspective on what is and has really happened. I would suspect that my wife had somewhat of an impact on that in that she was the administrater who infact pulled the testing program together and made it happen. The group from New York are all they're cranked up to be. I'm sure you say sour grapes and yes as a spouse I'm angry but only because they used my wife to their own ends and then discarded her. Please feel free to email me and I'll give you contact info.
