The Morning Line: Losing All Perspective

Quick riffs on today's toons...

Perspective, shmerspective! "Beetle's" slacking off again. (King Features)

Perspective and proportions are so staggeringly askew in "BB" today, we can say with almost absolute certainty that Mort Walker himself did not personally draw this comic. Heck, it's so insanely off, we don't think Mort Kondracke could have drawn this comic. (Either the desk is doll-house size or the woman is the tallest character every to appear in the strip. Oh, where to begin?) We smell an uncredited ghost-artist: the same master draftsman who "draws" Gil Thorp. (And oh, how we fear we've just unleashed either the hounds of hell or the Official Gil Thorp Facebook Group.)

Were this strip any more charming, we would pinch its cheeks. (King Features)

Early candidate for best/worst pun o' the week. So adorably cute, we're half-tempted to needlepoint it onto a tea cozy.

A visual gag that's positively lyrical. (Universal Press Syndicate)

"Not a Moose," oddly, are the exact misheard words a friend used to belt out whenever Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" came on the car radio, "Wayne's World"-style: "Not a moose / Not a moose / Can you do the fandango?!" (Now try getting Freddie Mercury's vocal pyrotechnics outta your head...)

Which of today's toons do you like, love or loathe -- or laugh at despite yourself? Our "Line" is open...

Wow, "Sam" in Judge Parker has been leaving for golf in Phoenix for a week now! I thought my wife was slow to leave the house on a trip...

Looks like Abby will be checking on his form, though, that could be fun...

Sometimes it's worth it, but I try and avoid puns, because of the non-English newspapers my strip appears in. I wonder how the Mutts translators deal with the puns. It would be interesting to see how this strip was translated into Spanish, for example.
