The Poll: Cats or Dogs -- Which Make a Better Comics Pet?
Whenever I get to talking about Garfield or Bucky or Snoopy or Satchel with readers and cartoonists, this subject inevitably rears its head:
In cartoon form, who rules: Dogs or cats?
Get both breeds of pet fans together, discussing such issues, and it can quickly become heated. But here's my thinking: I would argue that dogs make the better physical comedian, while the internal worlds of "conniving" cats makes for great interior monologues. (I grew up with dogs and cats, so I consider myself nonpartisan in this "in heat" debate.)
So I put the question to you, 'Riffs readers. Sure, canines and felines make for great natural antagonists, but when you get right down to it -- which are superior in funnies form: Cats or dogs?
(*And whether Marmaduke helps or hurts the case for pooches, this is for you -- the greater 'Riffs jury -- to decide.)
