Who Drew It Funniest? We Laugh at the Very Thought

By Michael Cavna

Perhaps because political cartoons typically must traffic in real-world issues and should offer a true opinion, they don't as frequently make me laugh aloud. And by laugh aloud, I mean that burst of honest guffaw that leaves your body before you have a chance to edit your reaction.

These four cartoons, however, literally made me emit a chuckle audible to at least several quizzical cubicle-mates. It's the most absurdly subjective of reactions, but I offer these Final Four up, in the spirit that some of you will chortle, too..

Could any Post comic strip be more deeply satisfying today than "Mark Trail"? At last, the karmic showdown we wanted to see: An unarmed Ken the Broken Man vs. the Buck That Won't Stop Here. Comic Riffs invites you to guess: Just what will happen Tuesday? And will a humbled Ken see the light, or--fatally wounded--see The Light?

Perhaps the pet deer itself become tragically ensnared in Ken's Man-Suit of Gore-Tex, Kevlar and Silent Shame? And what, exactly, are Mark and Ken's wife feeling before the Gore-Tex gets gored? The floor is now yours.

Trudeau = Genius.

Hard to imagine Bucky the Deer and Ken the Deer Hater making nice now. Maybe Mark Trail will show up and punch him.

Todays(3/3/09)Strange Brew made me, all alone, laugh out loud. Need one good laugh whenever.

Maybe Ken's wife (whatever her name is) will defend her husband against the Postal deer and thereby prove her love for him. He will in turn confess his secret jealousy of her transferred love due to his neglect. This will melt his cold cold heart and allow her all the pets she wants.
