By Michael Cavna

GEEK BUZZ:
Random names and news crossing the transom of comics culture...

The Television Critics Association named the Syfy channel's "Battlestar Galactica" the "program of the year" over the weekend and HBO's "True Blood" was chosen "best new program," according to the Hollywood Reporter. ...

At San Diego Comic-Con, I referenced the James Stewart classic "Harvey" when talking with Tim Burton. Must have been something in the air. Steven Spielberg has just announced that the next film he'll direct will be "Harvey" -- the name, of course, of Stewart's sidekick, the six-foot-tall invisible rabbit. Stewart received an Oscar nom for playing the film's Elwood P. Dowd; no word on casting for Spielberg's film. ...

The Bay Area promoter For Another Planet Touring will produce "Star Wars: In Concert," a global concert that will be a "conceptualized, multimedia event driven by live symphonic performances of music" from John Williams's six "Star Wars" scores. The previously announced tour will kick off in October ...

The Associated Press reports that international box office for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" continues to be "spectacular." The film made $42.7 million over the weekend -- its overseas total is now $492.3 million -- and its worldwide gross is $747.8 million. ...

And if you haven't seen it yet: the "Fantastic Mr. Fox" trailer out there yet -- Roald Dahl's story as directed by Wes Anderson, featuring voices by many of the Wes Anderson Troupe Regulars (Jason Schwartzmann, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson) -- here 'tis courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

Gotta urge they go with Tom Hanks for the lead human role in a Harvey remake. He's worked with Spielberg before, he does comedy well and you can make an argument that he's the Boomer generation's Jimmy Stewart.
