VIDEO OF THE DAY: Steven Slater 'hits the chute!' on Asian TV
The other day, Comic Riffs offered our modest proposal (yes, we were semi-satiric) in an open note to Comedy Central. The pitch: To add short moments of pure comedy Zen, the Viacom channel should buy up all American cable rights to the topical animated shorts that animators in Asia turn around with lightning speed -- from Tiger Woods to Lindsay Lohan.
Today, however, watching the new JetBlue "Steven Slater Hits the Chute!" (via AppleDaily.com/hk), we're beginning to rethink this whole thing a bit more seriously.
Really. These cheap-and-cheesy animations -- in all their crude and slapdash excellence -- suit their gossip fodder rather perfectly.
The latest evidence: Today's Riffy Award for "Video of the Day" goes to the makers of this Slater "two-beers-and-a-power-chute" animation:
