ANIMATION OF THE DAY: 'Black Friday' brings out the smashmouth shoppers
John Madden meets "The Matrix" in the latest comedic video from the Taiwanese studio Next Media Animation.
In "World Pins Hopes on Black Friday," the bull-rushing shoppers are quick to engage in hand-to-hand combat over a cheesy tchotchke. One slo-mo woman warrior holds her post-punch pose for maximum cinematic effect, as the fist-flyin' scene begins to resemble the big jail escape in Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon." And to satirize the height of modern American consumerism, the media "telestrate" the melee with all the X's and O's of a Super Bowl halftime show. Even a violent "Black Friday" video game leads fittingly to blows.
Comic Riffs, of course, wishes everyone a peaceful Black Friday, and we hope the day is not marred by post-turkey fisticuffs. If only this mock mockery could be screened to entertain the Black Friday's long lines, it might bring home the message: Remember the levity.
