BEHIND THE SCENES: See 'Cul de Sac,' 'Pearls,' 'Lio' cartoonists offer peeks behind the creative curtain
RingTales co-founder Michael Fry recently told Comic Riffs that his animation studio would soon feature behind-the-scenes interviews with such cartoonists as Stephan Pastis ("Pearls Before Swine"), Richard Thompson ("Cul de Sac"), Mark Tatulli ("Lio") and Paul Gilligan ("Pooch Cafe"), as well as such New Yorker cartoonists as comics editor Bob Mankoff.
Well now those engaging interviews have landed, courtesy of the Web entertainment company Babelgum, which has a two-year deal with RingTales.
"We put a lot of time and effort into getting the voices just right," Fry (also co-creator of "Over the Hedge") has said of casting the animations. Now, it's a treat to listen to the voices behind these comics.
Here's a sampling of the swell RingTales clips, featuring Thompson, Pastis and Tatulli:
RICHARD THOMPSON: Kids as Venn Diagrams
STEPHAN PASTIS: Drawing on the Walls
MARK TATULLI: Weird Science
