WEBCOMIC OF THE WEEK: The 'xkcd' guest heads to the Smithsonian
While the brilliant "xkcd" creator Randall Munroe takes a break for personal reasons, some gifted cartoonists are offering their surrogate stick-figures on his site.
Among the replacement workers have been Jeph Jacques ("Questionable Content") and Bill Amend ("Fox Trot"). Our personal favorite, though -- and yes, perhaps it's partly a D.C. thing -- is Friday's guest cartoon by Zach Weiner ("SMBC"), who invokes Washington's Smithsonian Institution.
The inspired guest cartoon begins with the wording: "In the spirit of xkcd I present a proposal for a new Smithsonian museum: The Smithsonian Museum of Dad-Trolling," which is "an entire building dedicated to deceiving children for amusement." The exhibits include "the Hall of Misunderstood Science" and "Regrettable Pranks: An Interactive Experience."
Comic Riffs hopes for Mr. Munroe's rapid return, but meantime: The guest cartoonists are obviously rising to the occasion of entertaining "xkcd's" loyal audience.

If you go to the xkcd.com website, all those exhibits in the cartoon have pop-ups with great examples. It really is an interactive cartoon!
