TUCSON TRAGEDY: Nation's cartoonists respond to the shooting [UPDATED]
(Note: This collection was originally published Monday at 10:50 a.m. ET)
Arizona Daily Star's cartoonist/columnist David Fitzsimmons drew from life quite personally in response to Saturday's shooting tragedy in Tucson. Fitzsimmons, who was at the scene shortly after the shooting, considers himself a friend of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords', who was among the 20 victims. He also made politically charged remarks to CNN for which he later apologized.
Fitzsimmons, however, did not retreat from the force of his cartoons, which included the one below.
Here is a sampling of how cartoonists responded quickly, bluntly to the Arizona shooting -- including Pulitzer winners Steve Benson, David Horsey, The Post's Tom Toles and Ann Telnaes of washingtonpost.com.
