GAME ANIMATION: Oregon Trail, Carmen Sandiego to make FACEBOOK debuts
If the lawyered-up Winklevoss twins wanted to see some real money from Facebook, they'd stop dragging Mark Zuckerberg into court and start doing something really lucrative.
Two words, Winklevi, just two words: "Game animation."
Role-playing simulation-animation games are big business, natch, but now the stakes are raised: Blue Fang Games' Darius Kazemi says on his blog that two games are due to debut soon on Facebook.
And the game "Where In the World Is Carmen Sandiego? will go live one week later on the very same FarmVille-lovin', hogs-and-mobsters site, the blog says.
ACME agents or westward-ho death-by-dysentery: We're not quite sure which is more addictively V.I.L.E.
The two educational games are a joint production of developer Blue Fang and the Learning Company, which will publish them. The first "Carmen Sandiego" software game dates back to the mid-'80s and the Apple II. "The Oregon Trail" dates way back to the early '70s and Steve Jobs's sweet sixteen.
"I loved both of these games as a kid ..., " Kazemi writes, "and one of the main reasons I took the job at Blue Fang was to get a chance to work on these awesome titles."
