Happy St. Patrick's Day
I'm a very bad Irish American. My father was a Kelly. My mother was a Spillane. And yet I have no idea where in Ireland we came from.
We visited Eire last year and while I found it quite lovely (the edges anyway; the middle bits are boring) I can't say I felt any ancestral pull. I do like a wee dram every now and then. And I am fond of potatoes.
But I do have a bit of Ireland in my house, courtesy of my in-laws. It's a bust of arguably Ireland's greatest writer:

No, it's not Bono. It's James Joyce. Oh sure I've read "The Dubliners," but have I read "Ulysses"? That would be a no.
