The Agony of the Feet
Summer's here and the time is right for dancing in the street. It is not, however, the time for riding Metro escalators in inappropriate footwear.
Two years ago, Crocs were the problem. (Personally, I think Crocs are always a problem, no matter where you wear them.)
Flip-flops aren't much better, especially if you don't lift your feet up quickly enough. Don't believe me? Take a look at this gripping photo snapped at the Grosvenor Metro station by Bethesda's Dan Swerdlow:

That is what you call one munched flip-flop. Take it as a warning: Exercise care while getting on and off escalators. Oh, and stand to the right, too, would ya?
Every Picture Tells a Story
I love these little snapshots of Washington-area life. If you shoot something interesting, send it to me: kellyj@washpost.com.
