Photo Flashback: The Great Pumpkin
This picture, by Post photographer Harry Naltchayan, ran in the paper on Oct. 28, 2964 1964. Here was the caption:
How to Face Halloween!
Children of the Happy Hill School, McLean, Va., planted Halloween and harvested it yesterday. Under the supervision of their teacher, Mrs. Paul Dodd, the youngsters took a 68-pound pumpkin that they cultivated in a schoolyard garden and created a jack-o-lantern from it.
All I know is, I wouldn't mess with Mrs. Paul Dodd. She looks entirely too into carving that pumpkin. (Cue manic "Psycho" strings.)

I went to preschool at Happy Hill School in 1970. It's on Georgetown Pike in Langley.

Whoops! That's what happens when you insist on putting the "2" next to the "1" on the keyboard.
I've fixed it. I'm still worried I might have nightmares about a dagger-wielding Mrs. Paul Dodd.

Yep, I agree, the 2964 date had me thinking of riffs on "In the year 2525, if Man is Still Alive." I do note that that was probably one of the last years you would have seen little boys ears. Within a year or two, the British Invasion would have changed the fashion such that no kid worth his salt would have had clippers touch his head.
