Mulligans: Aqua Buddha soaks Conway; Michael Steele forgets all about $15 million; tweeting Iran's twit

Today's first mulligan goes to Jack Conway, who took Aqua Buddha's name in vain -- and now is getting swamped. Before the infamous ad, the Democratic candidate in the Kentucky Senate race was viewed negatively by 36 percent of voters, according to Public Policy Polling. Now, on the even of the election, that's up to 55 percent -- and Rand Paul "is headed for a blowout win."

Or, as Aqua Buddha might call it, a tsunami.

Also in need of a mulligan, not for the first time, is Michael Steele (R-Voyeur West Hollywood), whose bid for a second term as Republican National Committee chairman has the full and unstinting support of ComPost. Steele told Politico's Mike Allen the RNC "is not in debt," then when challenged allowed that "well, there may be" some debt, after all. Like, maybe $15 million?

It's hard to know who deserves the mulligan more in this situation: State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley for tweeting Iran's Ahmadinejad an undiplomatic birthday greeting, or Sarah Palin for missing the joke.

Wrote Crowley: "Happy birthday President #Ahmadinejad. Celebrate by sending Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer home. What a gift that would be."

Also: "Your 54th year was full of lost opportunities. Hope in your 55th year you will open #Iran to a different relationship with the world.

Palin reacted as if Crowley had just sent roses and an ice-cream cake: "Happy B'day Ahmadinejad wish sent by US Govt. Mind boggling foreign policy ... Obama Doctrine is nonsense."

Proposed solution: Crowley should stick to communiqu├ęs, and Palin should pray to Aqua Buddha for wisdom.

Wow, who woulda thunk there were so many Aqua-Buddhists in Kentucky? I guess when your home goes underwater, you become unattached to your material possessions.

I'm afraid that if Michael Steele gets his way and enough tax hating Republicans get elected, he won't be the only one in debt for a long time.

Sarah Palin has even less understanding of the "Obama Doctrine" than she did of the "Bush Doctrine" during the campaign. For our national security, we need a preemptive strike to shut down her Twitter account.
