Obama on Mythbusters? Top myths he should bust

By Alexandra Petri

Today, when presenting awards at the White House Science Fair, President Obama also revealed that he'd just taped an episode of Mythbusters. Apparently, according to Mark Knoller on Twitter, the episode will test "whether ancient Greek scientist Archimedes set fire to invading Roman fleet using only mirrors & sun rays."

That's so lame! This is as lame as when he was on The View and didn't even make Whoopi and Joy Behar leave the set!

Here's the myths I wish he had tested instead.

Myth: The only reason Harry Reid hasn't yet tried to "man up" is that when he does "man up" he becomes an unstoppable, Hulk-like force incapable of pain or emotion, who forges consensus using only his bare hands, fire and raw steel. (The rare mutation that caused this is also the reason he opposes dumping nuclear waste in Nevada.)

Myth: If you buy the Nissan Leaf, a polar bear will walk down from the arctic and hug you.

Myth: If people believe you have no birth certificate, you can stop Christmas from happening.

Myth: Aqua Buddha

Myth: Christine O'Donnell is not really a witch. She's you. But what if you're a witch?

Myth: Prayer is an effective form of contraception.

Myth: Increasing health-care coverage actually saves money in the long term.

Myth: Shamwows are very efficient at absorbing liquid, even though their name can be broken down into the phrase "sham wow," suggesting that anything that impresses you about them is false.

Myth: This election year will resemble 1994! But only in the sense that the actual apocalypse, whenever it comes, will resemble Y2K.

Myth: Glenn Beck is incapable of crying on cue. He just has more emotions than anyone else.

Myth: Sarah Palin will continue coining new words until she accidentally says one that summons Beelzebub.

Myth: George W. Bush's memoir is a more compelling read than Justin Bieber's memoir.
