Alexandria man's death in Va. hospital being investigated as homicide
The death of an Alexandria man who was a patient at Central State Hospital in Petersburg is being investigated as a homicide.
A hospital spokesman said the state medical examiner's office determined that Justin L. Davis, 22, died of asphyxia due to neck compression.
Staff members found Davis dead in his room Feb. 28 in the hospital's forensic mental health unit.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar confirmed Wednesday that the agency is investigating Davis's death as a homicide.
Authorities have declined to release details or say why Davis was at the hospital.
