Crime in Vienna up in 2009, but still low

Crime in Vienna increased in 2009, though there were no homicides and overall crime remained low, according to statistics released Wednesday morning.
Police recorded 91 violent crimes last year, compared with 79 in 2008. Last year's violent crimes included three cases of sex offenses, an abduction and 78 assaults.
Property crime also went up, with 679 incidents recorded in 2009 compared with 576 the previous year. Those crimes included 30 burglaries, 64 cases of fraud and 313 thefts, data shows.
In a news release, police said traffic is the top concern for many Vienna residents. Vienna, in northern Fairfax County, has a population of about 15,000.
