D.C. elementary school catches fire

D.C. firefighters are on the scene of a heavy three-alarm fire at the Takoma Educational Center in the 7000 block of Piney Branch Road NWt.
The school, which was not occupied when the fire started at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, teaches about 300 children from preschool through 8th grade. There were no injuries.
The school was closed for the holidays, said Fire/EMS spokesman Pete Piringer.
