Man killed in single-car wreck in Montgomery County

The passenger has been identified as Jose Guillermo Tista Lemus, 26, of the 1300 block of Dilston Road in Silver Spring.

A 26-year-old Silver Spring man was killed in a car accident Saturday night when the car he was riding in hit a tree, Montgomery County police said. They have not yet released his name.
It happened at about 11:25 p.m. in the 1500 block of Dilston Road, when a white 1994 Volkswagen Jetta veered from the street near Avenel Road. The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was riding in the front passenger seat.
The driver of the Jetta, Jose Ovidio Martinez Lopez, 25, was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating what caused the car to leave the roadway.
Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit ask anyone who saw the crash to call 301-840-2435.
