A motorcyclist was killed in Howard County Tuesday afternoon when he struck the back of a pick-up truck in the parking lot of a seafood market, police said.

It happened at about 2 p.m. in the 7900 block of Oceano Avenue in Jessup. The driver lost control of his bike in the parking lot of Frank's Seafood, hit a curb, then the back of a pick-up truck, police said.

He was not wearing a helmet, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released his name.

Investigators believe his motorcycle may have had a mechanical problem, police said.

The driver of the pick up truck was not injured.
