By Allison Klein

On Monday night, a masked man walked into a CVS in Great Falls, pulled out a knife and demanded medicine, Fairfax police said.

A police officer responding to the scene tackled the robber from behind and took him into custody.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which could have come from a TV script.

The incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. at 9871 Georgetown Pike.

Amith Pinto, 21, of the 9800 block of Sunnybrook Drive in Great Falls, was charged with robbery and wearing a mask in commission of a robbery.

Police ask anyone with additional information about the robbery to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 or text "TIP187" plus a message to CRIMES/274637.

Finally, a cop that didn't default to deadly force. Took guts and a cool head.

Yea good job by Fairfax county police officer. If he would have done the crime PG County he would have been in the hospital shot up or dead.

"Nobody was injured in the made-for-television incident"

Two questions: What the heck does that made for TV comment mean? And is Pinto an illegal?

And what is wrong with deadly force? I am of the opinion if you are a robber you have already forfeited your right to life and you should be shot on sight.

Great comment TB_One, I could'nt agree more. When you put people in harms way on purpose, you get what you get. And can anyone tell me what difference it makes whether or not he was "an illegal"?

Stupid question and stupid term. I swear, some of you folks who comment seem to have just fallen off the planet retard.

What's wrong with deadly force? Nothing when it is the only option. Apparently, the cop on the scene didn't think it was.
He may also have been concerned about discharging his weapon with civilians around. It's easy to spout off and sound tough when you weren't there. Give the cop credit.

Nope Hawkins, I disagree...Asking his immigration status was a perfectly valid comment. This is a hot button news topic and a valid reporting subject of interest to the citizens of this area...just in case you haven't been reading a newspaper or listening to a radio for the past year+.

You're right, take it easy on a robber with a deadly weapon. Try to reason with them and even offer them a ride home including a stop off at the closest drive through. Walk them inside and tuck them into bed.

That's the ticket.

yes he is an illegal from india, just because he is brown does not make him an illegal immigrant. Are you guys really this absorbed in the anti immigration thing that you just acvcuse everybody of being an illegal? This is very dangerous, a friend of mine had an aunt that was asian and attacked during the whole buy american thing and it turned out her family was in the country for three genrations before her. Your questioning everyone's legal status IS RACIST.

I'm surprised this guy didn't burst into flames the second he was touched by the cop.

You only get to ask that 2nd question if you would also ask that question if he were white (he could be an illegal from Canada, Russia, Germany, Australia, anywhere).

my guess is that wouldn't cross your mind.

Dang, sure are a lot of people telling me what I can and cannot ask. You'd think they were Gestapo or NKVD or maybe working for Big Sis at Homeland Security or something. I guess I can only ask questions they approve of like, "Did the savage cop violate his human rights," or "How come Gays aren't in US Military combat units." And I guess they approve of WaPo censoring crime reporrts...the public does not need to know!!! (in this case)

Still curious about his immigrant status. Also would be curious if he had a Russian sounding name, Ignatiev or Vladimirov because there are Russian Mafia in America.
