School locked after near by holdup
Update, 12:20 p.m.:
Security measures at Glen Forest have been lifted, school officials said.
The armed robbery happened when two to four robbers walked into Sabina's Joyeria and left with jewelry. At least one was armed with a gun.
Someone chased the men and one of the robbers fired his gun, according to witnesses, police said. Nobody was injured.
The robbers ran away and officers are looking for them, though there is not an "active pursuit," police said.
A Fairfax County school is locked down after reports that shots may have been fired during a robbery nearby.
Glen Forest Elementary in Falls Church closed its doors after the robbery, which happened at 10:40 a.m. in the 3400 block of Payne Street, a half block from the school.
Police say reports of gunshots is preliminary and they are at the scene looking for a suspect. No injuries were reported.
