Two teens who robbed and beat a 59-year-old man and tried to run away were chased and stopped by bystanders who saw the crime, Anne Arundel County police said Monday.

The incident happened just after noon on Saturday near Hammonds Ferry and Shipley roads in Linthicum, police said. The teens walked up to the victim and hit him on the back of the head, causing him to fall down, police said.

The teens then kicked and punched him and stole his valuables, according to police.

As they ran off, witnesses followed them and helped police catch them, officials said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Arrested was a 15-year-old from Halethorpe who was charged as a juvenile, and Dana Patrick West, 19, of the 4100 block of McDowell Lane in Halethorpe. Both were charged with attempted murder, robbery, first-degree assault and related offenses.

I wonder if they will charge the 19 year old with corruption of a minor since, in theory anyway, he's an adult?
The 15 year old's attorney should just say it was the older guy's idea and the 15 year old just went along with it.
