Pedestrian struck and killed in front of courthouse
A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Wednesday night in front of the district court building in Glen Burnie, police said.
Joshua P. Reitz, 23, of Pasadena, was crossing the southbound lanes in the 7500 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie when he was struck by a car in the far left lane, authorities said. Anne Arundel County police said in a news release that Reitz was wearing dark clothing and was not in a designated crosswalk.
Police attributed the crash to “pedestrian error.” They identified the driver as Clifford J. Smith, 24, of Glen Burnie. The crash occurred about 9 p.m.
