Wrong-way Anne Arundel driver hits motorist head-on

A man driving the wrong way on Route 100 rammed his pickup truck head-on into a car, critically injuring the other motorist, Anne Arundel County police said.

Officials said Leon F. Medura Jr., 28, of Crofton was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes early Thursday. He struck 36-year-old Olasupo Dosunmu of Hanover.

Crews cut Dosunmu from his car and took him to a hospital, where he was in critical condition. Medura and his passenger, Ashley L. Patterson, 24, of Crofton were in serious condition.

Police said they had received calls about Medura just before the crash. They said a preliminary investigation shows that driver error, excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors on Medura's part.
