3 charged in $830K bingo game theft
New York authorities are accusing three people of siphoning money intended for charity from church bingo games for years.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says they stole approximately $830,000 from daily bingo games at a hall in Queens between 2007 and February 2010. Brown says they had people pose as members of inactive charities.
The three defendants — 62-year-old Spiros Moshopoulos, 49-year-old Tommy Skiada, and 46-year-old Daniella Radulescu — were arraigned Wednesday on charges including grand larceny, money laundering, and witness tampering. They face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
Skiada's lawyer says his client was unaware of any illegal activity at the bingo hall. Lawyers for the other two did not immediately return telephone calls.
