Alcohol charge in Va. student's death
A 19-year-old Ames man has been charged with a simple misdemeanor in the death of an Iowa State University student from Woodbridge who was hit by a train.
Michael Calderon-Cody, of Ames, was charged this week with providing alcohol to a minor.
Police say he was walking home from a nightclub near campus with 19-year-old Raven Gileau the night she was struck in April. Police say he left her under a railroad overpass as it was raining to go get a car to drive her home. When he returned, she was gone.
Gileau was an architecture student. Police have said her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Calderon-Cody does not have a listed phone number and could not be reached for comment.
