Bomb threat charges for Va. woman
A Virginia woman is to appear in federal court on charges she told authorities at a North Carolina airport she was carrying a bomb.
Authorities said Danielle Shanese Smith was to appear before a federal magistrate Friday afternoon on charges of providing false information.
The Charlotte Observer reported the 25-year-old Virginia Beach woman was arrested Wednesday night at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Authorities say Smith told security workers several times that she had a bomb and was a terrorist.
An affidavit says Smith and another person tried to board a US Airways flight to Norfolk, Va.
The affidavit says she told authorities she had a bomb after they found unusual images on a body scan. There was no explosive.
Smith's attorney didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
