Conn. man charged with 2004 Md. rape
A Connecticut man has been arrested after DNA linked him to a 2004 rape in Howard County.
Police in Howard say 30-year-old Gary Sental Taylor of Norwalk, Conn., faces first- and second-degree rape charges in an attack on a woman in a laundry room at the Grande Point Apartments in Columbia.
DNA evidence did not match a profile in a national database at the time, but police say the match to Taylor's was detected about six years later.
Taylor's DNA was collected in 2008, after his release from an 18-month stint in jail for a 2007 child endangerment felony conviction, and recently entered into a national database.
Taylor was arrested last month at his job at a fitness center in Connecticut and extradited to Maryland last week. He is being held without bond.
