This is a metaphor for the absurdity of the situation. The castle (us write US or USA) is defeated by the most ancient and earliest know siege machines, the catapult. It's as if the Mexicans are deploying Middle Age war machinery, which of course has been shown to work, while we roll out the most modern gadget, which of course never works. Maybe we should take down the wall and deploy the Skottish schiltron.

Like the submarines the cartels are developing expertise in, these have potential use for terrorists too. The drug warriors aren't taking the possibility of cooperation between drug cartels and terrorists into account in their calculations.
The war against cannabis is a particularly farcical and odious enterprise, junk it already. We badly need a safer alternative psychoactive substance to alcohol, and cannabis is it.
Not to mention the 35 nasty states that still don't even allow medicinal cannabis - how barbaric, taking out their stupid prejudice against recreational cannabis users on innocent by any standard medicinal users.
Or the idiotic by any standard war against non-psychoactive hemp.
The supposedly liberty loving Tea Partiers can't even see their way to endorse the right to use physician prescribed MMJ or grow industrial hemp. What a joke their claim of loving liberty is, the only liberty they love is their own.
