Club owner mum after Md. cop killing
An attorney for a Baltimore nightclub outside which an officer was killed says his client is not commenting on the case because the investigation is ongoing.
Paul Gardner issued a statement on behalf of Select Lounge late Monday that said any comment on the case "would be inappropriate at this time."
Gardner says he and his client "join the grief that has descended on Baltimore" and that their thoughts and prayers go out to the families who are grieving.
Police say 33-year-old Officer William Torbit Jr., an eight-year veteran, was fatally shot outside the nightclub early Sunday as a fight spilled onto a parking lot.
A civilian was also killed in the melee, and four others, including another police officer, were hurt.
