Marijuana growing bust in Baltimore

By the Associated Press

Police say they've raided a sophisticated marijuana growing operation in south Baltimore.

City police, working with federal authorities, served a search warrant Monday evening on two adjacent homes. They found 418 "starter" marijuana plants and growing paraphernalia inside.

Two men were arrested: 30-year-old Vincent Davis and 29-year-old Jesse Duffy. They face a variety of drug charges.

Charging documents show the two homes had been converted entirely into an indoor marijuana farm complete with lights, fans and other equipment. Police say the electrical supply to the building had been altered to bypass the meter and provide the power needed to keep all the equipment working.

According to the documents, Davis told police that the growing operation had been functional for about a year and that he and Duffy were in the process of shutting it down because of security concerns.

Prohibition has ruined the lives of GOOD people, while enriching the most evil. Prohibition has stagnated the American economy, while criminal enterprises control this untaxed cash-crop. Prohibition has left America ignorant of the most logical solution to a number of problems...medicinal, industrial, chemical, agricultural, ecological, commercial...

Lincoln was right:

“Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded. “ - Abraham Lincoln: Dec 18, 1840.
