Md. correctional officer shot dead
Baltimore police are investigating the shooting death of a Maryland correctional officer.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said 28-year-old Sharon Jones was fatally shot around 3:45 a.m. Sunday. She was at a friend's house in east Baltimore when she was shot once in the upper body.
Guglielmi says officers were executing a search warrant at Jones' home when they saw blood on the door and observed some suspicious activity.
Police believed a man was barricaded inside the home, but when officers entered the home Sunday evening, no one was there.
Police continue to search for the man, described as a personal associate of Jones. Guglielmi says investigators want to talk to him about her death, but the man has not been formally identified as a suspect.
