Nine killed over weekend in Baltimore

Police say nine people were killed over a violent Memorial Day weekend in Baltimore.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says eight of those people were fatally wounded in 11 shootings since Friday and one person was stabbed.

The most recent shooting occurred around early Tuesday on Fulton Street. Guglielmi says the victim found with gunshot wounds was pronounced dead on the scene.

Guglielmi says the department is responding with extra patrols, special deployments of plainclothes officers, and additional homicide detectives.

He says most of the shootings appear to be related to drug activity, while one of them appeared to be a domestic dispute.

As a Baltimorean I'd like to see the FBI and Homeland Security take an active role in bringing to justice these urban terrorists. Americans decried the loss of 3000 in the AlQaeda terrorist's airplane attacks at the WTC, Pentagon and Pennsylvania, but our leadership throughout America at all levels, federal and state, gloss right over the murders of thousands more in our urban jungles.

I don't worry about AlQaeda when I stop at a red light or walk to the store. I worry some punk and serial criminal is going to attack and kill me.
Why are the tens of thousands of Americans who innocently lose their lives to these American terrorists being subjected to living in fear everyday?
Rather than expanded Homeland Security with more bureaucrats defending their personal careers and fiefdoms, let us have real homeland security in the form of law enforcement with no other domain except cleaning up the streets of America.
Muslim terrorists don't scare me, 15-21 year old gun-carrying American thugs do.

The NRA has way too much power in arming anyone in America without regard to those of us subjected to these gun carrying punks. Every time a local jurisdiction tries to limit firearms to thugs, they whine about our "rights". Well I've got rights too, and that is my personal safety when I walk out my front door and pray none of these bums shoot me.

Someone should call Cedric Daniels, Lester Freamon, Bunk Moreland, and Jimmy McNulty to get on the case!

I agree papafritz571. I live in a fairly mid-sized city in Massachusetts and we just had our 8th killing this weekend. I tell people, you think this is bad, check out Baltimore. I can only imagine the fear of the kids, the CHILDREN and the elderly folks who live in Bmore. They should NOT be living like this. I love Maryland but since I've followed the news as much as I have, I have absolutely no desire to visit at all. Thugs run certain parts of the city and you are right, Homeland Security needs to start RIGHT here at HOME..

Hum...from the sounds of things, if you look closer, I'm willing to bet most of the victims weren't innocent. They were probably buying drugs, or at least hanging out in areas no decent person has a right to hang around in. Just keep to yourself and the chances of something bad happening to you are dramatically reduced. Let the scum kill each other. Yes it will occassionally spill out to the general public, and that's unfortunate, but I don't think this kind of thing rises to the level of Federal protection status.
